The Genie Has Left The Bottle
Well I guess they put a stop to growing rope in Canoga Park, I don’t know if you saw it on the news, 16,000 square feet, 25 feet behind the Police Station on Topanga Blvd, wired and plumbed, an indoor farm. As I walk through the alley behind my home, what I notice, is there are no crack vials on the ground, not the case just ten years earlier. I can’t speak about your town, but in my town, not too long ago, Doctors were doing a brisk business, pain pill prescriptions were easy to get, they were passing out opiates, like candy. This week, the buzz from City Hall, has been all about Dispenserses, the City Attorney, saying most, if not all, operate illegally. The law is vague, seems to be a modeled from the don’t ask, don’t tell policy of the military, and my understanding is, no matter what solutions, City Council develops, he says, he is still shutting them down. Why can’t he instead, work with City Council, working out these complex issues, every one of these dispenserses, and there are a lot of them, operating in, what they believe, being well within the law, like I said, the law is vague, ambiguous, it requires they operate, not for profit. Define profit, it seems, if nothing else, they better have money for legal, the way the City Attorney, is positioning himself at this moment, against them. I would like to see him, instead, continue to pursue AEG, on the costs of Michaels Memorial, and to work with City Council on regulation clarification, to strictly enforce tax code, business and sales. I don’t know about your town, but in my town pot heads aren’t bouncing off telephone poles, it would be interesting to hear some Police Statistics, concerning any trouble, tied to Organic Pharmacies, what has been the impact, of Medicinal Marijuana on their workload, are men beating their wives, are people dying in the streets of Over Dose, as a result of current law. We have a new Chief of Police, here in LA, he hasn’t spoke on this subject yet, somehow, I don’t believe this issue, is high up on his list of problems, needing immediate attention. This cat and mouse action needs to end, The danger with a 16,000 square foot clandestine warehouse, wired with high intensity lighting, is you don,t know who dId the work, whether it was done properly, up to code. Not too long ago, one of these indoor farms burnt, near downtown LA, I don’t think a burning cigarette was the cause. The Genie has been busy, since leaving the bottle, about 1,000 Dispenserses have opened, around the City of LA. On the surface, these 1,000 businesses, represent conservatively, about 4,000 legitimate jobs, in a city that has 12.5% unemployment. What needs to happen, is to bring this industry into the fold, to have it treated as any producer of a consumer product is treated. The Department of Agriculture needs to be involved, Building and Safety too. The District Attorney went off on a tear the other day, he started spewing about doctors who give recommendations, he sounded, as if he picked the wrong career, he seemed to know more about the Doctors patents, than the Doctors themselves. California Tax Banner
These archaic laws, laws that were created, in the wake of Alcohol Prohibition ending, have ruined so many lives, myself, I lost one of my oldest friends to these laws. Our prisons are full, with people caught up in these laws. For years we have heard, Cannabis, is the number one cash crop, in the state, don’t you think it is about time, the people of california see some benefit from this industry, rather than having this industry, continue being a drain on our strained resources. Back to this farm, that was discovered behind the Police Station in Canoga Park, the guys who did this, do nothing to advance the cause, there dangerous, what I saw of their operation, broadcast earlier this week on the news, highlights the problem, I don’t think these guys had a clue, they were growing rope. There are people who know how to do this, it would be prudent to have a certification process for the growers, to insure a safe product. Until this happens, danger to the public remains, the danger of fire, as a result faulty wiring, danger of poisoning, as a result of improper use of insecticides. Security needs to be in place, protecting the neighborhood, protecting people producing product
