Opening Day
It really is a wonderful game, while watching, the Yankees and the Angels, I realize how much I love Baseball, how, as a kid, I enjoyed going to the Ball Park. I’ve got a feeling, THIS MAY BE IT, the Dodgers, could bring it all back home, in 2010. I’ve got a good friend, Ben on the beach, he loves Baseball, he loves Boston, he’s a fan, so hard for him to get behind the Angles. I had a thought, you might say, a little brain shower, started checking prices on a couple of tickets, opening day, at dodger stadium, 2010. So it looks like I found some deals, two tickets, field 13, Arizona, opening day, for only $499, marked down from $548.90. It must be nice, I know my friend Ben, would enjoy these seats, you know, he would enjoy the game, this is National League play, he could cheer for the home team, “his Dodgers” not abandoning his Boston Loyalties. The view is always best, from the bleachers, I found a couple tickets, top deck, 13 B, for only $90. Do the math, the bleachers at Connie Mac, way back, were two bucks a seat. Two bucks, back then, was a lot of money, things I buy today, that were two bucks then, as a rule, run about twenty bucks today. Something sure seems out of whack! Well here’s the deal, I can get 8 tickets, top deck, 10, for $122, now that is $15.25 a seat, that is a deal. I hear, they started selling beer in the cheap seats again, I might have to think this over a bit, don’t know how smart it is, a bunch of Old Curb Dogs, out of Venice, filling up the cheap seats, with the beer flowing free. For all concerned, it may be better to forget all this, what seems to be the best deal, potentially, could end up costing the most. Besides, just think about all the beer, that $122 could buy at the Waterfront, chances are, a Red Sox game, will be on the big screen. So what about William Penn, is he gonna help out the boys again? Dad is excited, says he had some doubts he’d see the day, talked a little of the Phillies back in the day, you see, the Athletics, were the Philly team, until the day he died, my Uncle Mat believed they were coming back. When I was a kid, every kid I knew, went to Baseball Games, it seemed to be a part, of the Fabric Of America. Families, Fathers and Sons, Church Groups, and Boy Scout Troops, filled Ballparks across America, it might be interesting to know who fills up the Ballparks today! Hard to believe, a working man, with a couple sons, could throw down this kind of cash!
