Navajo Nation

Yesterday in my post I referred to the Navajo Code Talkers of World War II, by another name that was incorrect. I won’t say that name again, as it was most likely, a very disturbing phrase to anyone of the Navajo Nation. I can only hope no one of the Navajo Nation found my post yesterday. If anyone did, I would like you to know I am very sorry for this. As I thought about what I wrote yesterday, I realized, never would this phrase be used by the Navajo People. Ignorance is never an excuse! When I woke this morning, I knew I needed to fix this, and I did. This is the reason today, you will find two posts dated July 11. What I wrote about yesterday occurred in 1991. There is a belief in Navajo culture, a belief thats called Chinde. The phrase I used yesterday, I think may have crossed that line. The Navajo are a Spiritual People. They are a people, that even to this day, are treated not as they deserve. Currently, there are efforts to start up Uranium Mining on the Navajo. Reservation, as the price per pound has increased. These mines have caused serious health problems for the Navajo people in the past, and most likely will cause more, if mining is allowed again. The price per pound is the highest it has been since the 1980s, but the price of mining is too high! Here we go again, “GREED”. Don’t you think we should leave these people alone, let this Sovern Nation dictate what takes place, within there own borders. From what I know, and this might be some what limited, the only reason they have the land they have, is because we, the United States saw this land as worthless! By bringing this issue up, I hope it will begin to offset any offense, that may have been caused by my ignorance! I am truly sorry and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.
