boxing
I have always been a boxing fan. My Grandfather was a fan, my Mother was a fan, even my Father In Law was a fan. The late 70s early 80s was an exciting time for boxing, especially in LA. My Business agent and I would spend Thursday nites at the Olympic. Saturday or Sundays, if a fight was on the tube, Bob and I would spend a little time together. I liked watching boxing with Bob, he had boxed in the service, stopping because he said he cut. There had been this fighter out of LA who had one heck of a punch, he was knocking out people right and left. He had a fight coming up, said to be the greatest fight of that year. On a hot sunday afternoon,( it had gotten hot early that year), he was to fight Mike Ayala in San Antone. We were living at my In laws, my Father in Law working in his darkroom, while my wife and I kept busy around the house. All I asked was that when the fight came on,( I think at about 3pm), to be able to have some time to watch it. There were four or five fights on the card, but the battle I wanted to see was the Danny Lopez bout. Bob had asked if I would get him out of the darkroom when they were about to start. Its Fathers day, Bob and I sit down in front of the tube, his Daughter, My Wife, is seeing to his every need, and she is treating me pretty good to. I remember,it was hot, she was having trouble with the heat, that fight went all fifteen rounds when it was over,it couldn’t have been 2 minutes, her water broke. Now, she was 7 months, this was not expected so soon, but hey on Fathers Day, right AFTER the fights and now I’m a Dad! This had to be scripted!

Hi Dad,
I just got home & am exhausted. Alissa & I had a great time & it got even better when we ended up out to dinner with Alissa’s sister & her husband. It was a little birthday party that I was not planning on. Thank you for thinking of me today!
