“american upbeat” dunes

Standing out on a dune in oregon, having a hard time with my camera. I had never been out here before and I was finding it difficult to figure out. I had known one of the instructors of this workshop for quite a few years but the other I had only heard of, and admired his work. So I’m standing out there, looking lost. This guy comes up and we start to chit chat. We hadn’t had the chance to get to know each other, we were just feeling each other out. I began to feel comfortable with this guy, and I started telling old Hollywood Stories. I’m telling him about this club on the strip,”The Rainbow Bar and Grille”, and all the action. Now, I believe this instructor at the workshop had gone through school in the Midwest, moving to Oregon to pursue a career. I was going on and on about olden day hollywood. Out of nowhere he spits out this guys name, who just so happens to be the linchpin of all these stories. My jaw dropped wide open. I sure would hate to be going up against this guy in a game of charades. It had been maybe 25 years since either of these guys had seen, or even thought about each other, and out of nowhere, a byproduct of a few sentences, we had a bridge, some common ground. He told me the last time he saw TK was in Chicago, that he was in a rush, on his way to his wedding. Not a lot of common ground between TK and me, when we met, he had just wrapped up about a decade of school, I barely got through junior high. Both of us were chasing girls, however, he was good at it and I was not. I’ll have to say,I learned a lot from him. Just thinking about it, you know, this might of been a time where it would have been better for me to stay stupid. I guess that’s the price I payed for this bridge.
